Patricia Evans

PATRICIA EVANS has single-handedly brought the subject of verbal abuse to the forefront of American consciousness--naming and defining verbally abusive relationships via her first book, when they were still unnamed and undefined. She is an interpersonal communications specialist and the author of five books on the topic of verbal abuse, control, and healing. Fiind details on VerbalAbuse.com Evans is also a consultant, speaker and trainer, offering workshops and information on the topic. She has spoken on the devastating effect of this "secret form of control" on more than two hundred radio shows, and 20 national television programs, including the Oprah Winfrey Show, CNN and News Talk.

Purpose and Mission

  • Our goal is to present information and resources to those who strive for truth and clarity in all areas of interpersonal communications. We focus also on providing information and support to those who deal with verbal abuse issues. We believe that through awareness and understanding many issues can be resolved and authentic human bonds established. It takes two to build a good relationship. It only takes one to destroy it.

The Verbally Abusive Man—CAN HE CHANGE?

This book shows how to implement information from the previous books.

If you are dealing with a verbal abuse issue, we highly recommend that before you read this latest book, you read "The Verbally Abusive Relationship" to know exactly what verbal abuse is, then read the V.A.Survivors Speak Out book to understand other forms of control, as well as how to cope and recover, then read "Controlling People" as it presents an important new paradigm to the world showing just why someone would pretend to be someone else, or to live within someone else, telling them their motives, or what they are thinking, or even what they are!

On Relationship and Recovery

This book explores the subject of verbal abuse in depth and brings many new insights, such as: The relationship is ended in the moment that one is defined because the perpetrator cannot see or hear the real person. It may be then reconstituted with a question, then ended again.

Controlling People

A breakthrough book

This is a break-through book that, for the first time, shows why verbal abusers feel attacked when their partners tell them what is bothering them, and why they don't usually see themselves as controlling.

"I feel a compelling force to tell you that I consider your genuine blockbuster--Controlling People--to be probably the single greatest 'grande synthesis' I have yet seen. And I have seen hundreds of hundreds of ambitious but partial attempts at this over my 75 years. I passionately hope you can persuade your publisher to give this gem the widest possible publicity among both lay and professional audiences. Human kind urgently needs this, both on an individual and a collective level. Nothing else seems to be working very effectively."
